Orpheus & Eurydike. They said not to look back or she will be fade back to the Land of the Dark.
He slowly walked as his wife was a recent dead and her wound still affected her.
He was determined.
A bard was nothing without his muse.
He no longer sang as his melody was gone.
He had crossed the Styx river with the silent charon.
He had begged the Lord and Lady of Death.
His lyre strained at his grief and sadness.
Now the ghost of his wife was following him home.
Bursting with love for his wife, he made a mistake.
He looked back.
His eyes wide and mouth agape.
His heart was truly behind him.
But now, she shed tears down her beautiful eyes.
Her outstretched fingers grazed his cheek.
Slowly, she began to ebb away.
He cried and shouted.
But, he stood alone in the cold of the mouth of Hades.
Just a few steps away into the daylight.
He lost his love two times.
And that was two times more than he would have wanted to.
He then lost his mind and sat by the river Styx.
Wanting and waiting for another ride from the charon.
A one way ride.
Back to her.
