Lady Claybourne sips her punch and gazed around. She smoothed her black gown and was tapped from behind. She turned and broke into a smile. One of her dearest friend has finally arrived.
"Lady Dazzle, i believe you're late."
"No, sweet. I'm not late. They're early." She grinned. "Is Lady Auburn here?"
Lady Claybourne nods and motioned towards the dance floor.
"i think she's enjoying this far too much." Lady Auburn is dancing and laughing.
Lady Dazzle nodded gravely. They broke into laughter and was approached by Lord Casillas, the duke who had been living in Paris and just moved into the ton. Lady Dazzle patted her hair and smiled sweetly.
"Good eve, ladies." Lord Casillas said and winked at Lady Dazzle. Lady Claybourne smiled and craned her neck. "I'm afraid Lord Hitre is not attending this eve. He is rescuing his younger brother from a debt. I believe he is duelling."
Lady Claybourne gasped. Lady Auburn came to them, completely worn out and curtsied at Lord Casillas.
"What did I miss?" she asked as she took a drink from Lady Claybourne's cup.
"My bethrothed is getting killed right now. Excuse me." lady Claybourne excused herself and went out, searching for her bethrothed.
"Would you like to dance, Lady Dazzle?" Lord Casillas offered his arm. Lady Dazzle blushed and smiled shyly. Lady Auburn was swept to the dance floor by another man beofre she could finish her drink.
Meanwhile, Lady Claybourne had instructed her tiger to find her bethrothed. As the carriage rumbled inot motion, Lady Claybourne planned ways to kill her daft bethrothed.
